To keep their IP protected, software developers always had to deliver their products with some form of license even for demo versions or freemium software, unless they were ready to use simple obfuscation, or forgo any protection at all. Wibu-Systems has added the innovative IP Protection mode to its popular CodeMeter Protection Suite to cover these use cases and empower developers to keep their protection precautions in place. With the IP Protection mode, the protected application requires neither CodeMeter Runtime components nor a license on the part of the user. The system relies on the proven encryption capabilities of CodeMeter. The key for decrypting the application is itself encrypted and hidden in the application to prevent its extraction via a simple memory dump. This makes the IP Protection mode a great choice for many possible scenarios, e.g. for protecting firmware on embedded devices just as much as regular office software or applications running on servers or the cloud.
