In order to also safely connect decentralized plants or plants with old controllers to IoT, FP Inovolabs offers IoT solutions that enable an object-oriented representation of all machines and installations. Here, edge computing takes over the important task of data aggregation, in which an edge gateway collects the data generated in the periphery or the OT area. The variety of interfaces is managed by the software in the IoT-Gateway. An advantage especially for machine manufacturers is that they can decide at the edge level which internal data and processes are passed on – the machine manufacturer therefore retains control. Of course, at some point the user will also want to use a runtime at the IT level to control the entire process. To do this, the software should also be able to write certain parameters automatically to the individual machines, for which write access must be permitted. This is where the technology from FP Inovolabs comes in, allowing write access in three stages. The system is XML-based and allows programming of almost all functions. To be secure, basic technologies such as HTTPS and VPN tunneling are also used.
